Thousands of Americans across the world suffer from nervousness daily. Studies have found that common symptoms of nervousness include jitteriness, headaches, constipation, and fatigue. Unfortunately, high levels of nervousness make an impact on a person’s performance in the classroom and workplace. For this reason, it is vital to find helpful tools and practices to reduce nervousness in the body. Additionally, it is critical to remove poor lifestyle factors and habits that contribute to nervousness in your life. Here are a few tips to help minimize nervousness within the body:

Deep Breathing Exercises

Studies have found that deep breathing exercises are an amazing way to cope with nervousness. Often, when a person is experiencing nervousness, it is accompanied by jitters, which have been shown to increase the heart rate. Research suggests that deep breathing helps reduce a person’s heart rate by improving overall circulation, oxygen, and blood flow in the body. Once this happens, the body can enter the stage of relaxation, which helps reduce nervousness within a couple of minutes. When practicing deep breathing exercises, it is imperative to pay close attention to your breath. To do this, it is necessary to eliminate distractions from your environment. A simple phone call or message can be a distraction, and also increase your symptoms of nervousness. Altogether, I aim to practice this exercise in a calm environment to help maximize its impact.

Yoga

Equally important, studies have found that yoga is an amazing way to reduce levels of nervousness in the body. Practicing yoga stances have been shown to help increase blood flow, oxygen, and overall circulation in the body. Over time, this exercise helps relax the body, and minimize tension within the muscles that contribute to nervousness. Furthermore, practicing yoga alongside with deep breathing techniques helps encourage relaxation, thus reducing overall symptoms of nervousness.

Journaling

It is necessary to keep in mind that there is power in your voice. With that being said, journaling is a powerful way to reduce nervousness within the body. If you are experiencing nervousness due to stress or worries, take time out of your day to write or express the emotions you are feeling. Studies indicate that writing helps relieve tension and unwanted stress because a person can release undesired pressure from their body through the power of journaling their thoughts.

Light a Candle

Lastly, no matter what practice you choose to implement into your life, try to maximize it by adding a candle to the environment. Studies show that candles have soothing properties, which help relieve tension or nervousness in the body. Adding your favorite candle to your yoga, deep breathing, or journaling session sets the mood to help kiss those jittery feelings goodbye.
